# Retrieving the signed document

Download the final PDF once, after the signing session status changes to `completed`:

```
GET /sign/sessions/{session_id}/pdf
```

After the last signature, the audit log and the required signing evidence are packaged into the PDF. That package is included only when the session is `completed`. Wait for the [`com.docue.sign.v1.session.completed`](/embed-api/signing/webhooks) webhook, or until [Get signing session](/embed-api/openapi/signing/getsigningsession) returns `status: completed`, and then download the document. See [Get signing session PDF](/embed-api/openapi/signing/getsigningsessionpdf).

You can call the same endpoint while signing is still in progress. Each participant's signature is applied as a sequential digital signature, so that file is cryptographically valid for every participant who has signed. For example, after 2 out of 3 participants have signed, the PDF contains two valid digital signatures. It does not include the final evidence package until the session is `completed`.

If the session contains multiple files, they are merged and returned as a single PDF.
